The first results of the project " Photovoltaic systems as drivers of regional development " i.e. the first kilowatthours of electricity from solar power plant located on the roof of Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek
It is a project financed by EU funds worth more than 123,000 euros, which holder is the  Faculty of Electrical Engineering Osijek. On the roof of the Faculty were installed photovoltaic power plants with fotopanels of ten kilowatts of power whose task is to produce electricity , which will then be delivered to HEP. This is in line with the proclaimed focus of the faculty, in addition to information and communication technologies , and renewable energy.

Another goal of the project is comparing different technologies of photopanels placed on the roof of the faculty in order to assess their effectiveness and feasibility of this region . Based on the research that will be conducted as part of this project will make the optimal parameters of photovoltaic systems that will be adapted to the conditions prevailing in the areas covered by this project , namely Slavonia and Baranja region but also the southern part of Hungary .

The project also includes the opening of a modern, high-quality laboratory that will be used for scientific research and as a basis for teaching students, as a laboratory for renewable energy . Commissioning of the lab is a big step for the faculty since they became the first higher education institution in Croatia, which has such a laboratory .
